Writing for Online Readers

I came across this great blog post from Jane Friedman, professor of media and writing at the University of Cincinnati. She provides some great insight into writing for an online audience. It is presumed that only 20% of what is composed for online reading actually gets read. Therefore, it is important to state the information in a skim-able format that allows the reader to get the gist of what you are saying. Writing in this manner also gives the reader the option of getting to the point they most want or need faster. I’m thinking this type of writing is great for emails as well.

What do you think?
